Missions

“Every church, regardless of size or resources, has a role to play in reaching every nation. And the nations are waiting.”
—Dr. Paul Chitwood, IMB President

One of the best reasons to join with the Southern Baptist Convention is for the cause of missions. SBC churches voluntarily contribute a portion of their giving to the Cooperative Program which is used for various ministries such as seminaries to train pastors, local missions, and the International Mission Board (IMB). Missionaries can get training and receive full support for the mission field without fundraising. And this how the IMB is one of the largest, if not the largest, missionary sending organization in the world.

The IMB recieves 50% of its funding from the Cooperative Program and the remaining 50% comes from the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

We take two special offerings at Christmas and Easter (though giving is open year-round):

  1. Lottie Moon Christmas Offering: 100% of this offering goes directly world missionaries.

2. Annie Armstrong Easter Offering: 100% of this offering goes to train, resource, and send
more than 5,000 missionaries in the U.S. and Canada.

We invite you to visit the IMB website which is a treasure-trove of articles and other resources including a Missions History podcast.

At Redeemer Baptist we support the Cooperative Program as well as individuals who have partnered with us outside of the IMB. We are committed to praying for missionaries and highlighting their work in our services and at the annual missions fair hosted by our local association of churches.
